Salutations

Lunation is a woman-owned communications business based in Boise, Idaho. By leaning on our values of curiosity, empathy, dependability and excellence we are able to provide customized strategic communications to nonprofit organizations, advocacy groups, and small- to mid-sized companies in the pacific northwest. The business is designed with an Idaho spirit of collaboration to make communications practices like PR and marketing more accessible to all businesses in the Gem State.

CURIOSITY

When values are clear, decisions become easier. It’s just like the word says—when something is of value, it’s more important to us. That’s why at Lunation we conduct our work and live our lives around these four values:

EMPATHY

DEPENDABILITY

EXCELLENCE

when values are clear, decisions are easy

About the founder

Founder and Principal, Sophie Sestero, is a fourth-generation Idahoan who has worked in communications within the Treasure Valley for more than a decade. Much of her career was spent working in communications agencies servicing clients from diverse industries. She has directed accounts and managed teams across the west. Additionally Sestero has spent time on the client side, working within communications teams for area foundations and nonprofits before launching Lunation Communications in 2023.

So this name...

The name ‘Lunation’ is a word used to describe the time it takes to get through all the phases of the moon. The name illustrates how the agency provides communications services at any phase—from the first spark of an idea all the way through to completion.

where did it come from?

The name’s inspiration comes from Rose Sestero, the grandmother and hero of Lunation's founder. Rose was always fascinated with the moon. Lunar phases were something the pair watched closely because they had a ritual of visiting each time the moon was full. Lunation is meant to honor her.

Local > Locale

We are committed to our community. With an eye toward keeping fees accessible to clients, Lunation Communications has opted against a traditional brick-and-mortar office. Instead, business meetings will take place within local businesses and event spaces within the community to help appreciate and support the people and places that make Idaho unique.
